The Flagman — An Inspiration

Written on: August 21, 2011

I woke up to the news of the Flagman. Yet again I was more proud to be Arab. I love it when I see Arabs doing what they should be doing. Making that small move, for the sake of their own country, for all Arabs  and for the sake of humanity.

2011, have shown who are the real Arabs. We raised our voices all at once. Demanding for what we should have. Bringing us together against our destroyers.

Today, its the story of Ahmed Shahat. The Flagman, The Brave man, our new hero. A young Egyptians man who climbed 14 floors, 100+ meters until he reached the balcony of the Israeli Embassy, taking the Israeli flag and replacing it with the Egyptian flag.... Mostafa Kamel also went up with Ahmed. Two brave men, who feared nothing.

Ahmed Shahat said to AlJazeera English:

"people have been chanting for days. Take the flag down! Take the flag down! So I did"

Simple as that! Even though the Israeli Flag might go back up, the fact that we can take it down is just awesome. This is an inspiration.

Arab leaders have locked us in boxes for years. But now we our managing to get out of these boxes. Ahmed Shahat is just an example, many more examples out there.
